Thankful Thursday: Paint, Furniture...

I am thankful for a couple of things today.

First of all, I'm thankful that my house is getting painted, and that it's almost done.

(The light tan color doesn't show up in photos very well.)

Second, I'm thankful for yummy things like strawberry shortcake (we had some on Sunday).

This is the way my mom always made it, with biscuit-like shortcakes. I like these much better than those rubbery cake cup things you can buy at the store!

Third, I'm thankful it's sunny today after 2 1/2 days of steady rain.

(The blossoms on the apple tree in my yard looked nice with raindrops on them, though.)

Last of all, this week I have really come to appreciate a standard item in most American living rooms: the couch! We put ours out to be collected in our city's semi-annual bulk trash pick up on Monday evening. We aren't bringing in the new couch until we are done painting and are able to shampoo the carpet. So we've been sitting on the floor all week. Now, I know in many cultures sitting on the floor is the norm. But let me tell you--my body (especially my back) does not take well to sitting on the floor! Even now, my feet are falling asleep while I crouch on the floor next to my coffee table typing this post. I have gained a new and deep appreciation for the couch!

(The boys are lying on the floor instead of sitting. Yes, it's a mess from all the painting stuff.)
There are so many things to be thankful for...these are just a few I'm thankful for today.

I wish the same thing as Rachelle, especially since our couch is losing it's legs.

I'm happy you're finally getting a new couch. I know you have been wanting/needing one for years. (Like practically your whole marriage!)

I wish everybody who wanted better furniture could get it...I've lived with a lot of "beat up" furniture over the years, and I know it's a bummer!
