And that's for only two of my kids; I don't know what I have to get for Scott yet.
So far, I have spent a total of $205.75 on school supplies. I think that's actually less than some years, and of course that doesn't include school clothes--new shoes and all that. (So glad public school is "free"!)
All complaining aside, though--I love school supplies! I actually liked going back to school every year when I was a kid (mostly). I loved when my mom took us to the store, with list in hand, to buy school supplies (I wasn't footing the bill back then). There's just something so exciting about new pencils, fresh notebooks, and (especially) a brand new box of crayons!
Even as an adult, seeing all the aisles of school supplies in the stores makes me drool. As I shop for my kids, I have to fight the urge to buy myself a new box of crayons (and maybe a notebook or two...)!
I think for me, school supplies are a symbol of new beginnings. A new school year; a chance to push myself a little and to learn something new! I don't think I'll ever outgrow that!
I think I will go learn something new now....

Me too. It's like we're twins or something!
P.S. Do you have major fees for your kid's "free" public education? In Arizona we had little to no fees, but we did have a hefty supply list. Here in Utah we have a lighter supply list, but very hefty fees.
I have spent half the amount on supplies as I did the fees. What can I say, I have 6 kids in school this year. Thankfully, no one is in college.
