This week was not nearly so crazy, thank heavens! Still busy and it had its own challenges, but not too bad.
I'll start out with pictures from Tanner's second Prom:
Such a beautiful girl, right? Tanner got to go to two different Proms with two different beautiful girls. How lucky is that? He had a lot of fun, too. They were originally planning to leave the dance early to go see a movie, but they were having so much fun that they decided to stay until the end of the dance. Tanner said more than once on Saturday that he had a great time and that it was a great way to finish off his Senior year. I'm glad he had such a good experience!
Jared went to a friend's house that night. Frank and I were both up early on Saturday...he had to meet with a client and I had an appointment to get my hair done. In the afternoon I did a food order while Frank and the boys weeded the front and back yards. That evening Frank, Tanner, and Jared went to see the new Godzilla movie. I took Seth to the park for a while.
I had lots of meetings on Sunday and the boys had a fireside that evening. Monday wasn't too eventful except that Seth came home from school looking sick to me. He claimed to feel ok (except for a slight headache) but then he curled up on the couch...not his usual behavior! I was right, too--by evening he had a pretty high fever. This was a bummer because he had a field trip on Tuesday. They were going to the Museum of Natural History and he was really looking forward to it. They were supposed to go last fall but the government was shut down so they had to postpone the trip until this spring. Oh well! We reminded Seth that he had been there before and promised him we'd take him there again sometime and he accepted that and really wasn't upset.
Seth has been sick all week, and it's a strange illness...no cough, no congestion, no sore throat--just high fever and headache. He didn't seem all that sick on Tuesday but on Wednesday he took several naps. Then Wednesday evening he threw up, and had a bad night where he threw up several times, into the early morning hours. Between that and the huge thunderstorm we had in the wee smalls, it was definitely a night of interrupted sleep. Thursday morning I started him on a tablespoon of soda every 10 minutes and that helped his stomach finally settle down. After 2 hours of the soda every 10 minutes, he was able to keep a popsicle down. By noon he was asking for crackers and he kept that down too. He was still pretty sick...had a high fever and was quite lethargic...but by Thursday evening he was a lot perkier. Today he has definitely been more like himself but he still has a fever (not quite so high) and he still hasn't eaten much. I'm glad he has a long weekend to keep recuperating.
Meanwhile, Tanner has been enjoying sleeping in every day. On Tuesday Frank worked from home so I was able to take Tanner shopping for a new suit. Amazingly, we were able to find one that fit him at our second stop...and it was on sale half price too. I was surprised that he needed a coat size one size larger than I got Scott last year before his mission. He is taller than Scott, though. Hopefully he won't grow a couple of inches between now and next year when he goes on his mission...then he can take the suit we just got with him. If not, then I guess Jared will get it. I also got Tanner two white dress shirts, two ties, and two casual shirts. We are almost through the list of things he needs for Pageant. A lot of the things he needs for Pageant he will need for his mission so hopefully next year it will pay off and we will have a little less shopping time (and money spent) then.
Tanner had two graduation practices (one on Wednesday and one on Friday) and a Senior Awards Ceremony on Thursday. It was mandatory to attend all three events if he wants to attend his graduation ceremony next week. At least the two practices were shorter than scheduled...they were supposed to be from 11:00 to 4:00 but they were both done by about 1:00. At the awards ceremony he received a special drama departmental award for tech work. Unfortunately, we weren't able to be there to see him get it. Frank had to work late and Jared was doing the lights & sound for the ceremony. I needed to stay with sick Seth. But we are proud of him for getting it. He certainly deserved it...he has worked very hard. He also got a pin to wear on his gown for graduating with honors because of his GPA. He has a pin for the Arts & Communications Academy that he also wears on his gown and a gold cord because he is in NHS. I will have pictures of all of that next week.
Since I was home with Seth all week, I didn't get a lot done. I did some RS stuff when I could via email and phone calls. We had two crises in the ward this week (that I'm aware of) but neither are the kind that I can do much to help with. Just sad stuff. I went to a scout committee meeting Wednesday evening, made sure Tanner got to all the places he needed to go, kept up with the housework, and took care of Seth. I managed to get Seth's birthday presents purchased with help from Frank and the internet. I also drove the carpool every morning. It was a real blessing that Tanner was done with school...it helped so much that he could stay with Seth when I had to go places.
The boys had YM Wednesday and a service project Tuesday. Jared went to a song practice tonight...now they are singing their song at youth conference this summer...it's a regional conference with two other stakes. Tanner went to a movie tonight with his friend Taylor and he is spending the night there.
Wow, that was pretty short! I told you this week was better than last week. :)
