We kept pretty busy this week but I'm not sure it will be very interesting to read about. We'll see how it goes.
Jared was scheduled to work a lot but he didn't actually end up working very much. He worked at Chickfila on Monday and at the Keys Thursday evening, but that's it. He wasn't feeling very well (had a bad headache and felt dizzy) for a few days, so he called in sick on Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday and today, they let him know the night before that they had extra people scheduled so he didn't need to come in. It's nice that he got the extra rest but that means he didn't earn much this week. At the Keys, he was supposed to work last Saturday but because there were supposed to be thunderstorms that evening they didn't expect a very big crowd so they told him he didn't need to come in. This week the schedule kept changing (originally he was supposed to work three evenings) but they kept adjusting things and in the end he just ended up working last night. That was his last shift at the Keys because next week they have away games and he is heading back to Utah on Sunday (the 26th).
Frank didn't have as busy a week with his business either although today he had to make an emergency trip down to one of his client's places of business. I'm not sure how long he will be gone. He worked on paperwork for the company that is hiring him and he got that done and submitted so that process is moving along. He has done some more organizing in his office and with Jared's help he got more of the furniture moved into the new office so maybe someday I will be able to start moving things into the old office space--but we aren't there yet. Just getting closer!
I kept really busy with all the usual shopping / cleaning / laundry as well as several other projects. I've been practicing the ukulele again and exercising every day. I spent quite a bit of time working on Cub Scout related stuff. For one thing, I planned den meetings for the remainder of the year (just a rough plan--I'm sure it will change as we go along). I also updated all the records for the stake Day Camp, which meant recording what all the boys actually did and then getting that information out to all the people in the stake who needed it. That took several hours, but that project is done. I also added all that information into the records for the boys in my den and figured out what awards they need to receive and what we need to do to finish up a few of the other adventures that they started.
I continued to work on the pin maps for Seth's teacher and I finished that project last night. We'll be returning the pin maps to his classroom today, hopefully. That project also took up a lot of free time but I did enjoy it for the most part.
I have also been busy working on the Brain Balance stuff for Seth, hoping that I can get started on the actual treatments next week. I went through everything and figured out what things we are going to need for all the different exercises and I needed to order a few things for that. Most of them have arrived now so I think we are on target to get started next week.
My other project for the week was to go through Seth's clothes to figure out what he's outgrown and what he might need for the new school year. Every year, Maryland has a week where they don't charge sales tax on clothing purchases and it is this week, so it seemed like a good time to do that project. It turns out that he really doesn't need a lot of clothes--he mostly has what he needs--but I did pull a lot of stuff out of his drawers that he has grown out of and it is nice to have his drawers neat and organized again (we'll see how long it lasts!) We did go to the store on Wednesday and got him one pair of pants and a couple of pairs of shorts (a little big so he can wear them next summer too) and a few shirts. He will probably need new pants about half way through the year because most of his pants are starting to look just a little on the short side, but the next size up is way too long for him still so we are going to hold off on getting those until he has grown a little more.
Besides all of that, we took dinner to one family in our ward one night (the dad just had back surgery and the mom is going through chemo). I went to the weekly religion class, we had den meeting on Wednesday night, I kept working on the personal history blog post (hopefully I will be ready to post it soon) and I've been reading a lot, both with Seth and on my own. Seth and I finished reading Holes (a great book and very easy, quick read) and now we are reading Farmer Boy (one of the Little House series books). I had to convince him to give that book a try, but now that we have started it, he is enjoying it quite a bit.
I almost forgot that on Sunday we were invited over to another family's house (kind of last minute) to have home made scones. We had just finished our dinner and I didn't think I would be hungry enough to eat any scones but then they smelled so good I had to try one and I ended up eating 3! (They weren't very big.) They were kind of sweet, with cinnamon / sugar on them, and we had brought some whipped cream that Frank whipped up really fast and they were really good with the cream on them. Everybody loved them!
Last night Seth mentioned that one of his feet was really itchy (on the bottom). I didn't think much about it, but this morning he said his legs were itchy now too and when I looked at him I realized he had a rash all over his body, as well as pink cheeks (which I noticed when he first got up). It's just a very light rash. It looks like it is probably an allergic reaction of some sort to me, so I gave him some Benadryl and we will see what happens. He doesn't have any symptoms of illness (like sore throat or stomach ache) so hopefully that's all it is.
Here are a few pictures from this week's den meeting, to finish up. We made "stick bombs". The kids really love this activity! One of the Webelos leaders came over and helped us because there is only one Webelo boy right now, and he didn't show up.
Oh, and here's one more picture I took Monday night. Jared and Jessie went to help with a service project for their YSA family night and then they came to our house and joined us for our activity / treat. (We do the rest of family night on Sunday evenings.) We played a game called Color Slap, and Jared and Jessie were the last two standing:
In the end, Jared won, although Jessie was ahead for a long time.
