I'll start this week's post with an update on Frank. He stayed home from church on Sunday because he still wasn't feeling great and he needed to get some rest. He was able to start eating solid food again, though, and his rash had faded quite a bit. He has been able to work from home all week and that has been good because it has allowed him to get more rest and keep off his foot. His foot has continued to improve and is getting close to being back to normal. He can put a shoe on it again, for one thing. He still has to walk a bit carefully on it though. His rash has continued to fade and is barely visible now although it's not completely gone. I'm grateful that he is doing so much better.
Last Saturday Seth went to a regional youth activity in West Virginia. I think he had fun but they didn't get back until after 10:00, so that was a very late night for me.
On Sunday we had the sister missionaries over for dinner, and Jared and Jessie came too.
My Seminary lessons went fairly well this week. One was on ministering and the other was on the 2nd coming. I have my lesson for this coming Monday ready but still need to prepare Tuesday's lesson. I can't figure out why it takes me all week to get two lessons prepared, but it always seems to happen this way. I guess I should just accept the fact that this is how it's going to be.
I had quite a few extra things to do this week...I took Seth to the dentist on Monday after school and to the doctor on Tuesday after school. The dentist visit was his bi-annual cleaning and the doctor visit was a medicine check. I also got a flu shot while we were at the doctor's office. My arm was a little sore for a few days, but I didn't have any other issues. On Wednesday after school I helped Seth make some cookies because he was supposed to take a homemade sweet or savory snack. They had a competition to see who could make the best thing. (He said the boys all liked something else better than his cookies but the girls liked his cookies best.) Frank and I both went to the church with him (but in separate cars) so that Frank could show me how to use the new televisions they just got at the church. The screens are larger and they have wireless connections. He showed both me and my team teacher how to connect to the televisions. After that, I went home so I could go to bed and Frank stayed at the church to bring Seth home when his activity ended.
On Thursday I had book chat. I just got a copy of the book, The Spanish Daughter, last Friday but it was less than 300 pages and an easy read so I was able to finish it before Thursday. It was kind of a mystery, so I definitely wanted to finish it before we discussed it. We all enjoyed the book and it was entertaining, but none of us thought it was fantastic. Now we are reading Lessons in Chemistry, which I have already read but will enjoy discussing. I actually can't remember it all that well anymore (I will need to read a summary of it somewhere before our discussion to remind me of details) but I do remember that I really liked it.
Today was a teacher work day so Seth didn't have school and no Seminary either, of course. I slept in until 5:30! Yes, that really is sleeping in for me and it was great! A group of kids from our ward, including Seth, got appointments to go to the temple to do baptisms. I volunteered to help drive but actually didn't have to drive in the end. I had made an appointment to do initiatories at the same time, so I still went with the group there and back. I finished initiatories before the group doing baptisms finished so I was able to meet the group in the baptistry and spend some time with them too. They were finishing up the confirmations but one of the temple workers told me that Seth did a great job helping with the baptisms. I rode down to the temple with my friend Michelle (she's the YW president that I was recently serving with) and I rode home with my friend Tammy--my Seminary team teacher--so it was a really pleasant drive both ways and it was great to be in the temple, as always.
Seth and I hadn't had lunch yet (we ate a few snacks before we left) and it was close to 3:00 by the time we got back so we stopped at Chick-fil-A on our way home from the church to get milkshakes and chicken tenders. Something kind of funny happened...when we were in the drive through waiting for our food, one of the workers brought some bags of food to our car and said "Amy?" If he had said any other name, I would have immediately said "no", but it took me a couple of seconds to process in my brain that there was no way he could be mixing me up with my twin sister who lives in Texas! 😆 Then I did say "no" and then he looked down the line of cars and said "Oh, there are two white Tucsons!" So someone out there with my twin sister's name drives a car like mine, apparently!
When we got home from the temple, Jared & Jessie had just arrived to do laundry and they stayed for dinner. Jared had to work a couple of hours tonight (he's covering part of a shift for someone) so they didn't stay as long as usual but we still had time to play a game of Scattergories before they had to leave.
We've mostly had pleasant weather this week with chilly mornings but pleasant days. We've had some sunny days and some rain on a few days. The leaves have been slow turning colors this year but on our trip to the temple and back I noticed that a lot of trees are starting to look really pretty. I took this photo from our front door today...lots of beautiful leaves on that lawn across the street!
This is pretty short, but I think that's all the news from our neck of the woods.
